Even just on a recording, it’s hard to fathom or believe the sheer dynamic range of the Berlin Philharmonic’s string section. It’s just shockingly impressive. The recording I’ve just listened to is Berg’s Lyric Suite, conducted by Karajan. The recording was made in the 70s and is TOP drawer.
